A BLiNKOMETER is an electronic thermometer that displays the temperature by blinking it’s red light in a sequence of flashes throughout the night.
The BLiNKOMETER could be suspended by a tree branch in the yard, set on a picnic table or placed on a fencepost. Anyplace that can be seen conveniently from inside.
At night or in the early morning it’s easy and fun to glance out the window and see exactly what the outside temperature is.
The temperature is displayed by a sequence of blinks that repeat every ten seconds after the sun goes down. First, the tens are displayed, then the ones. Whole numbers are represented by a short blink, zeros by a long blink. A reading of 68 degrees would be reported by six short blinks, a short pause and then eight short blinks. 70 degrees would consist of seven short blinks, a short pause and one long blink. After a pause of ten seconds the temperature blink sequence begins again.
The BLiNKOMETER sleeps during the day to conserve energy.
Powered by two AA alkaline batteries, the BLiNKOMETER typically operates four months or more on a single pair of batteries.
The BLiNKOMETER is an electronic circuit board mounted on a battery holder and housed in a transparent plastic tube. There is a red vinyl translucent hanging cap on top and a red plastic cover on the bottom. The circuit board has a micro controller, temperature sensor, light sensor and an LED light.
